I have said many times that knowing "about" something is no where near the actual experience of that something. When I first had the experience of understanding what I previously just knew something about, I knew the realization took place somewhere other than my thinking brain. Now when I find myself just knowing about something very important to me, I meditate on the invisible origin of what created the interest until I feel that "click" or lifting up the higher consciousness that I call God. In that state of consciousness, everything becomes crystal clear and very bright with a force that gives me all the answers and instruction to let the previous just "knowing" become the experience which clarifies into my human experience.

This "knowing about" always applies to reading Joel's books, as well, unless there is an intense calling in a particular phrase or sentence. When that calling occurs, which is like the words on the page just light up, stop the reading and start meditating right then. Meditate by clearing your minds of all thoughts so the way of understanding can be fully open. There are no human thoughts or feeling that you need to take with you in meditation. They actually hinder your meditation. The serene peace will always come upon you when "let go" of everything. Then and only then can you receive that which you are searching for. Right now, in particular, is your husband's concern over your physical problems. You can be very understanding of his concern for you without being affected by his concerns. However, if your desire to please him outweighs your own realization of the truth that calls to you to overcome your physical problems, your realization should be that you don't really have the complete realization of that truth. When that truth is fully realized, the effects would be the invisible calming of "his" fears. And his fears can only be based on yours, even though they may seem quite invisible to you. I learned some time ago not to put the responsibility of my consciousness on someone else's demonstration. Sometimes we unknowingly put the fearful thoughts into others because we need some help to stay on track with our spiritual awareness. So then we really create a mess. We then have to "prove" something to someone else before it is proven in our own experience....and it just can't be done. So, if you really "know" you are going be rid of your affliction, start by healing your caring husband of his fears in your consciousness.....no need to "say" anything to him, just know it in your heart. This is NOT correcting a mistake....everything is happening exactly as it is supposed to and everything that is happening to you is for your own particular spiritual growth which will not be fully understood until after the actual "experience" of it.

How easy it would be to just tell you to read Joel's books or mediate. But then I would have no purpose in my consciousness, How easy it would be for you if all you had to do was to read and meditate and then wait while some "unknown" power changes your life without ever imparting the wisdom of how and why. Then you would have no purpose in "your" consciousness. Changing your human will to stop interfering would be like suicide to it. It just will not want to cooperate.....Unless the love of what you know as God calls to you in such a powerful way that His instructions become like you own thoughts, and the "You" as you feel it suddenly looks down and sees your earthly human form and the "realization" occurs that your human life is but part of your total existence. Then, your responsibility becomes the realization that "You" are to instruct your human life of it's exact purpose.

All is well,

Bob

Thank you for your appreciation and willingness in your last e-mail. I understand that much of what I write has to be read several times to be fully understood. We all get busy at times and I will always understand these things...don't ever worry that you need to do anything for me except learn to find "this place".

I always write spontaneously just as Joel always spoke in his lectures spontaneously.

If I had to humanly think of what I am going to write, I would never finish a letter because I would be changing it continually. I can send you some of his tapes if you like. I will try to pick out one that I am currently listening to myself. I just need an address to send it to. The one I am listening to now is from a lecture given in England.

A true healing takes place when the problem and even the memory of it disappears. In my own case I have to refer back to my own writings to remember some of my own. Today I am healthy and remember by my past writings that I was in a wheelchair for over 4 years and suffered for 20 years from a serious back injury. My wife, Gail, had some major surgery with severe complications and was in the hospital or confined to bed for over 5 months back in 1989. Much has changed in our lives since then and all that happened was important to our own purpose. Gail was a life time Christian Scientist and in 1981 discovered and read the book, "The Spiritual Journey of Joel Goldsmith" by Loraine Sinkler which started our journey with Joel's teachings. We have arrived at the stage of no longer needing Joel's books or tapes for ourselves but as a continuing reference to help others embarking on a similar journey. Joel breaks the bonds of dependency on anything outside of one's own consciousness. Everyone needs someone to be with them on this type of spiritual journey. The old human mind thinks it has to accept the responsibility of everything and in so doing hinders our calling somewhat.

Gail and I have been through so much adversity and it wasn't until after-the-fact that we understood why. Today, neither one of us gets sick, worries, gets depressed, discouraged, or ever lets appearances or human feelings effect us negatively. There is never a lack of any kind and we have all that we could have ever wanted materially(even though we place little importance on "things"). This life has turned into a wonderful vacation( or holiday as I believe the British call it). I guess our adversities were the foundation of our "actual experiences" so that we could assist others from "experience" and not just "knowing about". If you are interested in what we have been through, I have an old web site I created over 5 years ago that may explain more of what we went through before things changed so much in our lives - as it will in yours in the very near future. The address of the web site is <http://www.videographics.net/abilities> You may get a glimpse of the beginnings of the fruits of our journey. If you want to know a little more about my regular business, these are my business web sites. <http://www.videographics.net> and <http://www.atlantabusinessbuilders.com> Spiritual inspiration created these as the means of our supply...and as I always say, supply is something one "gives" and not something one "gets". Until such time that I grow fully into a purpose of all supply coming from sharing my spiritual experiences, these "businesses" give me a chance to show how enlightenment works unknown to others.

Now that you know a little more about me, lets get back to your journey. I mentioned a few paragraphs up that a true healing is the disappearance of the condition and the memory of it. I am currently working spiritually for my 82 year old father who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Several times he has called me with what he thinks is "new" bad news. He says he just heard that he had cancer. I tell him people are looking at the lab results months before his healing and he says, "I never knew I had cancer. I'm so glad I called you, you have eliminated all my fears". Without spiritual enlightenment, people hang on to negative appearances, giving them a mental reality. The only way for them to get rid of the negative is to make it tangible and as real as possible in their minds....and then place hope in medicine, doctors, superstitions, others opinions, and anything outside of their own misconception of a human condition. It is like when someone has a sharp pain in their foot and search until they find the thorn to take out. It seems that some need visible proof or professional evidence that a condition is an evil enemy that needs defeating by an opposite power.

Nothing can "kill" you...only your fear makes you believe the "nothing" is a greater power than your life. Remember, no "thing" can kill you. When we pass on from this plane of existence to another, we do it willingly because we have realized that our purpose has been fulfilled and our reward is to be free of this earthly body. Anything else is suicide. Yes, even the belief that we could unwillingly die creates the process of giving up, which in turn gives us the belief that the continued functioning of our body is useless against what is just a mere belief in an appearance or condition. No One can pass into the other dimension without doing so willingly and without first fulfilling their purpose. All physical ailments get worse when one strives to prove its existence. Worse means suffering of any kind. But then one may put themselves through strenuous exercise and suffer but believe it is good for them. No one would ever think an uninvited discomfort is good....but how and why do we not believe it is just as good as the pain of exercise? Here is where UNDERSTANDING is revealed spiritually. We had to be taught that pain from exercise is good and some other pains are bad, or the pain of learning is offset by the reward of education. Joel was a former Christian Scientist Practitioner before he started The Infinite Way. The term "world belief" used in Christian Science is the practice of learning the ways of the world by being taught certain things that set up a belief in two powers. Opposites are not made up of one good and one bad as we are taught. If there are two of anything, they are both good and each necessary to perpetuate the belief in the other.....all in the "world belief" of good and evil always battling each other.

There comes an important time that you must separate yourself from all this mental reasoning to caress the real truth of being. In this marriage there is all the enlightenment and peace you hear about....and it doesn't come and go anymore. You realize that "I" is not your body or your human brain. "I" existed before you were born. When you say "I", it is not your human name, body, or activity. God is "I Am".

"I" is what talks to you and your brain and not the other way around. Joel says that you are not in your body. You are not in your feet, you are not in your torso, you are not in your head, or even behind your eyes. It is your human mind that says it is behind your eyes, not you, the "I Am". You are not your body but your body is YOURS. Many things in this earthly existence come and go but "I" always is here as the real you. Enlightenment is the EXPERIENCE.

I realized some time ago that the purpose of a spiritual journey is the union of "I" and the reasoning brain in our bodies. It totally ends all conflict. It creates the "heaven on earth". It is the evidence of immortality, eternality, and incorporeality. It is the AWAKENING to the purpose of your human existence. Not unlike human birth, it may come with some human discomfort. But the discomfort is very temporary.

Since there is 5 hours difference in my time and London time, I would like to set up a specified time for us to meditate. Would time permit you to meditate for 15 minutes at 11P.M your time which would be 7P.M. my time? If so, then we could do this for the next week or so.

My next letter will answer any questions you may have and go a little deeper and be a little more specific about certain areas.

All is well,

Bob

The greatest reality is that which you imagine. What you imagine is what eventually manifests into your human experience. Beauty can never remain trapped in your thoughts and visions. The only thing that can hold that beauty back is the "imagined" impossibility of it. Dependency on outer circumstances to prove the existence of that beauty before it's manifestation is the confinement of the vision of your being. What we have not yet experienced is more of a reality than that which we have. Why else would we have fears or hopes? If we continued to repeat the same things over and over again because of the familiarity, we would never have had the desire to crawl or walk as a baby. Yes, there is a fearful feeling which is only the lack of "knowing" what change really is. This is why I say that "I' never changes and has always been and will always be who you really are. The phrase " God is the same yesterday, today, and forever" is used in Christianity. We always find it very difficult to forgive ourselves and need someone or something else to do it for us first. Jesus is the salvation for forgiveness as he is the "Christ" within us all. When we arrive at the full realization that "The Christ" is what embodied Jesus, and that "we are all the sons of God", we see how the world is full of dependency on knowing God outside of themselves. "The Kingdom of God is within." Jesus "taught" the truth of "everyone's" being, not just his own. The source of enlightenment is what we believe to be God even though the revelation of it occurs within ourselves. The beauty within your own experience is waiting to be released. Sing, write, dance, paint, sculpt, teach, or play a musical instrument, by clarifying that beauty within you. This is the release you need. Just let it flow as you do when you write to me. You have a wonderful gift of imparting your feelings into words. Even the admonition of your fears is that beauty released. Beauty is proof you need to overcome your fears. And when you know you are already releasing it, the rest of it can flow forth.

Love is Love because it needs nothing in return. Love is its own reward. That is why Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thy self". It is never something you do that you don't want to in order to get something in return. When the realization that this human feeling of love is the presence of "I", that love can't help but come out in the way I have described.

Fear is natural when we understand that it is simply something attached to the expectation of an experience we have not yet had. People are even nervous or frightened at the thoughts of a marriage ceremony but go through it because of the thoughts of the beginning of a beautiful life together with their mate. We place such high expectations on our mate "giving" us this beautiful life that when there is a conflict of some kind, our dreams gets shattered. There is a difference in "things in common", human love, human attraction, and the "Love that needs nothing in return". Marriages flow from the "need to be needed and loved" to the "need to need and love". This is where "oneness" teaches us the "love that needs nothing in return". Remember, it can't help but express itself in your experience when you know "where" that love comes from. You don't have to "need" love to give it. You don't have to "want to give love" to give it. As part of your being, it is always flowing in and out.....effortlessly given and effortlessly received.

Study is not the activity of a spiritual journey. "Letting go" is the preparation of receiving that which is revealed to you in a spiritual journey. There is nothing else you need do except the activity of prayer or meditation. And the activity of prayer or mediation comes automatically when there is nothing to hold on to in human thought.

If during the process of mediation, a thought or human feeling lingers, the act of meditating reveals how insignificant those thought and feelings are...and they vanish like the scenery viewed from a moving vehicle. Mediation is the vehicle not the destination. Where it takes you will always be your future "favorite place".

All is well,

Bob

I was told back in early 1980's by a practitioner that the pain and depressive effects I was experiencing was only fear. I did not have the full realization of what he said until many years later. So I will never give you a simple answer like that. These horrible thoughts you were having were based on YOUR definition of fear....not just fear in general. If spiritual enlightenment was "not such a big deal, or just a little improvement in your life", there would be NO adverse human effects. But it is a big deal and the major improvement in your life.....It is the TRANSFORMATION or AWAKENING to God as He chooses to reveal Himself to you. This is a more serious matter than the thinking human mind can comprehend. Of course it is frightening to think that we may not be who we think we are. The first question is always "Who am I then?". Because we have not experienced this transformation in this human life before and have actually FORGOTTEN where we came from and who we really are, it seems at times to be a very difficult journey. All major changes in life are difficult, whether we choose the change or not. When we make the choice, it is easier to persevere through the difficulties. Sometimes if we knew what the difficulties were, we might never make the choice. I know you can relate to what I say because it is equally difficult in AA. As you look back on your former alcoholism, you probably see now that the only reason anyone really drinks is to get rid of some kind of pain in their lives. It was never that you were wrong or bad, just that there were no other choices presented to you at the time. Part of your own experience with alcoholism could be to help others on the road to recovery. With this type of spiritual awakening, what better way to posses the wisdom and clarity of the truth that could help so many.

I always know you are doing well in accepting the Truth I speak about. Don't ever be afraid of your reactions to the things I write. Remember, I am not talking to the one who does not posses the experience of Transformation, but the "I" within you that knows all past and future. That "I" within you is your teacher and guide, not some outside influence. The most beautiful realization I ever had was to know that everything and everyone in my experiences happened because the "I" within me brought them to me for the ultimate union of my human mind and God. What greater love is there than to make Himself so personal as to identify with you as your own Real Self. This is what Joel meant when he said "Closer than breathing, nearer than hands and feet".

Not only are God and you ONE, You and EVERYTHING in heaven and earth are ONE also. EVERYTHING is ONE. Nothing is separate from the ONE. ONE is the "I". In being the ONE, the "I", the "I Am" is the PRESENCE. One of the books you are reading is "Practicing the Presence". To be honest with you, I don't remember many words in any of Joel's books or tapes. I remember rediscovering a FEELING I had long ago, before "the world" taught me to forget. This FEELING, as I would humanly describe it, can never leave me again. It is that feeling that imparts the words that I find myself reading "after" I write them, or hearing "as" I speak them. They are always as new to me as to those I speak to. What a wonderful Presence this is.

I don't find myself spending this much time corresponding with anyone else. It must be very important to the "ONE" that I am doing this now with you. The only thing this can be so important for is your individual human and spiritual purpose. All for the purpose of the "ONE".

Go about your meditation with all the importance it has given you. There can be absolutely nothing lost from time or importance from your human responsibilities by the time and degree of intensity of your spiritual journey. If you spent 23 hours in meditation, the one hour you had left in a day would give you more rest and accomplishment than any previous 24 hours. Sometimes you will feel that you just can't contain the excitement and exhilaration of your journey. And there might be times that you feel you are getting nowhere and as you say feel that you are in "no man's land". You will persevere, because you HAVE to and WANT to.

All is well,

Bob

When one receives spiritual enlightenment, it is not unlike winning a lottery of millions of dollars. If one remains in the same consciousness, they will spend the money on just the things that were slightly out of their reach. Examples: Buy a better used car rather than the best "new" one. Move into a better apartment rather that buy the best "new" house. In a nutshell, buy all the things that their friends or peers had that they never could afford. Usually after most of the money is squandered, they realize that it did nothing to really change anything, even if they did eventually become extravagant in their spending. Actually the money may make them feel even poorer when they find that it can't really buy the happiness they were looking for.

The old expression "easy come, easy go" is so true. So it is with a spiritual journey. The letting go is hard but the transformation is easy. And when that Transformation occurs, you will never look to use it to slightly improve you life or use it in any way to "add" anything to improve your human life because it is NOT a power to use externally. If there were a power, change would occur by "not" using it. If one would like to think of it as being a power, the REALIZATION that occurs in the TRANSFORMATION is that the external world changes in proportion to "living" the TRUTH of your being "inwardly".

A seed never has to tell anything in the earth to do its job of helping to TRANSFORM it into a plant. The mere fact that it knew to burrow into the ground from the ENLIGHTENMENT to do so also gives it the ENLIGHTENMENT to know that "all", "One", "I", "I Am" is the activity of its being and of the "ONE". So lies the wholeness in the completeness of that activity. ALL THINGS ARE DRAWN UNTO YOU. The ENLIGHTENMENT of the TRANSFORMATION is the REALIZATION of the activity of the"One", "I", "I Am", "God" which is the OMNIACTION of GOD. You know how the human mind projects only what is in its consciousness without this REALIZATION. Our eyes can only see what they are physically capable of, while the inner eye of TRANSFORMATION and REALIZATION sees far beyond into TRUTH which had only been a concept in the human mind previously.

There is a "responsibility" that comes with TRANSFORMATION. The REALIZATION gives you the explanation that the "reality" of "knowing" imparts the clear identification of what is necessary in our human life in order to fulfill our purpose. The searching stops. The questions stop. The desires change into activities. The ambitions change into fulfillment. The longings disappear into the activity of "being". "KNOWING" totally replaces any activity that was previously a learning process. This is the explanation of the union of God and the human mind. Then there comes UNDERSTANDING when you are "busy" fulfilling your purpose in which there seems to be the presence of activities of the old human mind only. When one types, drives a car, or performs any activity that does not require mental thought, the question of why really never occurs. We are busy "doing" without thought. The state of consciousness before and after such activities pertaining to your purpose is the "I" embued in your total consciousness. Your human thoughts become aware that in a state of human activity that you, the "I" is carefully watching and guiding all that you are doing. A mother "becomes" her child and in so doing lives the life of that child with all the wisdom and knowledge of the mother being present and active at all times.

Those who are searching for Truth whether it be in our Beyond Prayer and Mediation web site or anywhere else sometimes are looking just to fill a slight gap in their former beliefs. If it does not mentally "ring a bell" they may reject it all. If they "know" that "the kingdom of God is within" and that external means are never the teacher, they feel "at home" with something they really can't explain. It may seem like I make it difficult in the way I approach my teachings to some. That is because I am never directing my efforts to a "person" looking to satisfy a human question. I direct all my thoughts to the "I Am" within everyone. In so doing, those looking for a "bridge" and not a "path" will benefit. The only conversations I have are with God. The "I Am" in those who hear instigates the activity of change.

When you see the words I speak in writing being heard by Jo, your identity is the "I Am" interpreting those words for Jo in the most personal way possible. Then "ONE" is understood completely. There is nothing "apart" from Jo, as God is ALL IN ALL.

All is well,

Bob

I know it is difficult not to fear your fears and conditions. Just let things happen. Whatever the appearances are, just know they really can't harm you. If you feel what you would define as harm, just know that it will not last. Everything is always working for eventual good. If you feel stronger about doing something humanly about the problems, do them. There is nothing to fear about reacting to human conditions. You can't score points for covering up a fear or condition with a mental image of a spiritual truth. Sometimes it may be better to do something to lower the threshold of pain or fear in order to let the Truth get through to your thoughts. It has taken me over 30 years to realize that the one Truth to solve all my human problems wasn't out there. Remember problems are the "only" way to turn within. Think about this for a moment....If every time it became cloudy, the electricity, water, and heat went off in your house. If there was anything you could do about the electricity, water and heat, you would do it and not just wait for the sun to come out again. If there wasn't anything you could do about it, you would have a much greater appreciation of the sunshine and in that sunshine you would discover a way to keep the electricity, water and heat on the next time it became cloudy. We can't always find a solution in the darkness. But we know the darkness doesn't last. So we patiently wait for the light.

Spiritual Enlightenment doesn't stop the changes from occurring in life. It gives you the wisdom to realize what change really is and change always means from positive to negative and negative to positive. Not to be adversely affected by change is the results of such Enlightenment.

I would like for you to tell me, in detail, about everything that is affecting your life negatively. I will never be judgmental. Sometimes a release is beneficial.

All is well,

Bob
