As people of the world mourn and fear in the aftermath of terror activities, let us not be consumed with things of the world,
but of the Spirit.
As seekers of spiritual truth, one's responsibility to his "neighbor" - friendly
neighbor and enemy neighbor, near neighbor and far away neighbor - is to realize
the presence of God as being universal.
Think of the millions of people now praying to God to overcome their enemy. Who is the
enemy? To those on the other side, we are. Do we think of ourselves as an enemy? No. We
think of ourselves as good. If one is praying to God to destroy his enemy and his enemy is
praying to God to destroy the other person, which prayer does God hear? And to whom
does God favor? God is no respecter of persons and this we must
understand. As God is Almighty, All Power, the
Omnipotent One, who and what is there to fear? As God is Life, and Life is immortal and
eternal, what life is there to mourn?
"God is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity". God
appears as all things - only people label things as good or evil. God is universal
Love and knows nothing of evil deeds or evil people. What is right and good to one person
is the opposite to someone else. On the human level, different beliefs lend to different
ideas and ways, but God is Unchanged and manifests AS ALL, neither good nor bad, just IS,
just BEING. God is BEING the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac. God is BEING the
God of Christians and the God of Islam (Allah). THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD.
A few days following the New York Holocaust, we watched a
television program entitled The History of God. It was about Monotheism, the belief in
One God, and that all religions of the world abide by that belief - the
Christians, the Hebrews, the Muslims. The underlying worldly problem is that each one
believes his is the True God and the others are false and must be destroyed.
One cannot have One God and still fear the God on a foreign soil - they are one
and the same.
Whatever appears as an evil force in society, ours or someone else's, is part of the
universal or carnal mind wanting one to believe in two powers. To make a conscious effort
to refrain from looking at the appearances and believing them to be real is part of one's
spiritual growth. One measures his spiritual progress by how he/she reacts to fear and
terror. To understand it as part of the humanistic world and not be effected by it
brings freedom.
This is not to say one should not be a good humanitarian during human struggles. This is right
and good to do. On a spiritual level, however, and as I perceive most of you are,
fear and terror do not exist. Only peace resides where God is. God is our
consciousness and our conscious union, Oneness, of God's presence brings liberty.
The public religious services of late have had many nations represented. The public show
of patriotism in the United States has overwhelmingly brought people together onto common
ground. The search for answers in the church has people thronging at the doors. Yet God
has always been present, has always been loving, has always been the answer.
There is no enemy except one makes it so. Right now, the Terrorist groups of the world
have made the free and prosperous countries their enemy. They have tried to bring their
enemy down.
Let us look beyond the appearances of labels. In the human world there have always been
wars and "rumors of wars". In the spiritual world, where one really resides,
there has always been understanding. There is nothing to fear. Spiritual understanding
reveals this. Likewise, there is nothing to pray for. It is already done (on earth as it
is in heaven).
One's responsibility is not to pray for oneself or that the enemy be overcome, but to know
the Truth of being.
Know the Truth of God as BEING ALL - including what one now calls an
enemy.
Know the Truth of God as Being OMNIPOTENT. Meditate on that word
until an understanding flows.
Know the Truth of God as Being OMNISCIENCE. Meditate on that
word until a light dawns.
Know the Truth of God as Being OMNIPRESENT. Meditate on that
word until peace overwhelms you.
Then one will have peace on earth as it is in Heaven, and an enemy (of any kind) will be
no more.
All is well.
