FEAR NOT, by Gail Gupton
War. Tragedy. Disease. Economic Repression.

These are the "arms of the flesh" spoken of in the Bible and are related concerns to impending problems in the world today. Those who fear the above are believing in powers of destruction and that there is something, some "thing" that needs to be overtaken, controlled or healed. The majority of people currently living on earth believe this way and are affected by their beliefs.

When meditating on the situation of war, I immediately remembered that war has been going on for generations. One nation against another for governmental control. One religion against another for moral control. It is perfectly natural. In every case, God seemed to be with the side of the victor - or so it's portrayed. It occurred to me that wars of the past were necessary for the evolution of society to be in its "proper place". No amount of petitioning and no amount of praying can ever change what's written in the script, or what is meant to be. One does not have the power to stop that which is destined. When I see Internet e-mails come in for a petition to stop something, I have to chuckle at the ignorance of those who sent them. Is God our servant, that we can tell him what's best? Is God not all knowing omniscience?

If one were to pray to God for no war, and someone else prays to God for war, whom does God favor? The answer is no one. God does not favor. God only is being ALL. God is not Christian or Muslim or Jew or Hindu. God knows no religion. God is not American or Iranian or European or Australian or Chinese. God knows no nationality. Yet God is being all those things we attach a label to.

Having the presence of God in one's consciousness, knowing the truth about the nature of God as perfection, dispels any fear of outcome of war, tragedy, disease or poverty. We do not know what one civilian or one soldier holds in his consciousness. However, it stands to reason if one is protected against an "enemy", that person may have had a higher understanding of what protection is. The average person fears death on a regular basis. Yet, most of us have outlived Christ Jesus, the greatest spiritual light that ever trod the globe and who was here for such a short time. Death is not an enemy to be overcome. Spiritual enlightenment overcomes the fear of it.

Fearing tragedy of any kind, from explosions to nuclear fallout to bio-chemical attacks is, again, a belief in a separation from God, from one's protective source. World work is not educating people of negative influences and the need for prayer, but to raise one's own consciousness to include the whole of mankind into spiritual freedom, individually and collectively.

There is a reason for everything. World opinions and speculations find lodgment in the human mind and then the human mind thinks it needs to know all the answers. Spiritual understanding comes not from the brain. It comes from listening in the silence. It comes from consciously meditating on spirituality. It comes from turning away from the opinions and speculations of the world into the realm of solitude.

Fearing illness, anthrax, smallpox - isn't it all the same thing? Isn't it all a belief that something called "health" can be lost? Can anything ever be lost when one has the complete fulfillment of God's presence? Man is so constantly working to protect himself from evil forces that he fails to see there is nothing, no "thing" that is not already perfect as God being ALL. With the knowledge that God is "Almighty", what is there to lose or gain? Gaining something not of God is impossible. Losing something of God is impossible.

People in economic circles report the American economy is slow. It appears one does not want to part with his money or that he is overspent and has no money. Some fear war and the effects of war will affect the economy, therefore those people hold on to what they have in fear of losing it. The same principle applies. One cannot lose what belongs to God and one cannot obtain a negative unless God is that, too. This, I believe, is where people "miss the mark". One side of the mouth says, "I believe God is All. I believe God is the only power". The other side of the mouth unconsciously says, "I believe in evil forces". "I believe in another power opposite to God."

It is naturally human to be afraid of consequences. Consequences are what constitute laws. Living with the presence of God - the conscious presence of God - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - this is living spiritually. This is living with no fears, in spite of how the world behaves.

All is well.
