| DEATH AND THE RESURRECTION, by Gail Gupton |
Are you "entombed" in some problem, some situation, some lifeless endeavor? Are you "buried" with debt, fear, despair? Easter is upon us and with it comes thoughts of Eternal Life and Immortality. Christians around the world join in celebration of Jesus rising from the tomb. The ultimate fear on earth is death. Society engrains into every human being the fear of dying from accident, terrorism, starvation, poison, natural disaster, disease, or some other thing. If everyone in the world could experience an afterlife and come back to earth, there would never be fear again. One would live in continual peace and harmony, knowing they never really had any reason to be afraid of the unknown we call death. Resurrection is the freedom, the lifting up, the liberation from human bonds. It is the ultimate proof that Jesus gave us that one does not live in the confines of human form. The Christ lives one's life and Christ is spirit. One can be resurrected here on earth from the confines of daily living with the realization that God is his being. Intellectually, many already know this through study of metaphysical and mystical teachings. Simply repeating words or going through motions, however, leaves one with the same human dilemmas. It is in the letting go of thought and the concepts one has accumulated throughout life and wakening to the reality of Truth. Most people have experienced someone who has made the transformation into the next realm of consciousness. Often it is said the person just "let go". When one does this, natural things happen. How wonderful if one could just "let go" of all human concepts and learnings. To go within and discover God lives one's life dissolves the temporal situations one clings to and prepares the path to harmony, whether in this state of consciousness or the next one. Jesus told his disciples the last enemy to be overcome was death. He obviously knew the fear could be the obstacle to achieving the kingdom of God which is, of course, within oneself. This is where God lives - within All. The proof Jesus offered humanity was only seen by the enlightened ones. His resurrection was scoffed at by the unbelievers. Sound familiar? Individuals are "dying" daily and waking up to know the Truth of God as All. God is Almighty. What does that mean? To those simply attending a church or singing praises, it means only words. To those who have had an experience of feeling the presence of God it means All power, All presence, All action, All source, All form, All knowing, etc, etc. God is discovered as not only the Father, but the Son and the Holy Spirit. And we are that Son, "joint heir with Christ". What a wonderful revelation. In the resurrection, one passes into the realm of being "at one" or "atonement" with God, which is where each of us originated. Although a person may not discover it in his lifetime here on earth, it will be revealed in eternity. But when one does discover the Truth here, the rest of one's human existence is "resurrected" above the bonds of human conditions. If you are "entombed" by life's seeming problems, turn within to find the Kingdom of God within you. Listen for that still small voice to thunder in the silence. You are one with God. With this realization comes liberation. All is well. |
